About the Event
Cyanotype works by treating fabric with a light-sensitive solution. When exposed to UV light, the solution undergoes a chemical reaction and changes the fabric color. By putting an object on the fabric an image can be created where exposed areas turn blue and unexposed areas remain white.
We will have pre-treated fabrics on hand. Participants can bring items to “print” or cut out shapes on paper. To expose the fabric the fabric will need to be in the sun with the shapes firmly on top to block out the sun. After up to 30 minutes the fabric will change color. Lastly, it will need to be rinsed in cool water to reveal the final picture.
This is a free workshop that is open to all ages. Project is good for anyone. All materials and tools are provided. Materials are 100% post-consumer, meaning we use only reclaimed, recycled, or donated things.
